Before you book a showing
- Know your numbers. Run the affordability and transfer-tax calculator.
- Check the lot. Hillside homes may be in a slope or silt-bluff hazard area, and river-flat homes may be in the floodplain. See rivers vs hillsides.

- Ask about the suite. Is it permitted? Is it tenanted, and on what terms?
